I think Martin, that people were trying to help you, so why are you saying that you wish you'd never started it. Maybe next time, they will ignore you. I think most people would understand that I meant buying the DVDs and the frustration of the hours I have spent trying to install the scenery. Not sure why you would decide to interpret it in that unfriendly way, but so there's no doubt, I am always grateful for whatever help people offer, whether it ends up being useful or not. Yes, I was trying the installation with the PC disconnected from the internet. Actually, although ES is closed, they have just responded to my request for help saying they'll get back to me soon.

If the issue is resolved, I will post back with the solution of course. The problem with your ES IoS install is almost certainly the ESI software. As Chris mentioned earlier in the thread, you have to be disconnected from the internet to install and importantly (otherwise the install will not work) you have to use the ESI for that particular product. ES were keen to make you update to the latest version which was fine as long as they (ES) were up and running but that doesn't work when installing now. If you have an ESI installed. Uninstall it and use the one on the DVD.

Making sure you're offline. Of course, you're next problem will be if you have more ES software to install but this was always the case. I have IoS installed as one of the first sceneries on any new install and recently, I wanted to add Alderney again. As has happened before, various bits of Alderney were missing (due to ES annoying trait of changing AutogenDescriptions!!!) but Tony posted a fix which brings these items back.

Since my last post I have made progress though! I have managed to install Guernsey and Alderney from the DVDs (as well as the Jersey scenery alluded to earlier - but that one of course is a piece of cake!). In desperation (even though I had done a System Restore), before starting afresh, I went through the registry and deleted every entry there for Earth Simulations - no idea why there are entries there after my System Restore, I have never had ES sceneries installed before, but whatever. I then installed Alderney, which finally worked! Then I uninstalled the ESInstaller and tried Guernsey: that also worked - but only after I went through the registry deleting remaining ESInstaller entries first.

I then installed the Guernsey update available on Arm-Computers. What I can't get to work is Isles of Scilly (these are all from the DVD). I deleted the ESInstaller again, and then went through the registry again and removed all references to the ESInstaller. (Without deleting this in the registry, once the you click 'OK' to the license agreement that comes up when you insert the DVD, nothing further happens - I left it for 30 minutes to be sure). So, by doing all that cleaning up, I can to get to the IoS installer screen, but it just won't unlock.

I have checked the serial number a dozen times, but the software just won't unlock, so I can't install it. I tried on a different PC, which has never had ES software on it - again, I get the installation window, but the serial number won't unlock the software for installation. Not sure what to do now. I need to check the serial number from the DVD itself - though for the moment I don't recall how to do that (I'll have to Google it - may only be possible for a Windows Installation disc). BTW - if anyone has Isles of Scilly installed OK, could you possibly post the entries from the FSX scenery.cfg file??

However, I concluded that the serial number that came with the DVD was wrong, I could see no other explanation for the inability to unlock the disc. I had emailed Flightstore and was going to ring them, but they got there first with an email reply - and with a different serial number to try.

Which worked, so now I have all the Channel Islands and Isles of Scilly installed. Great - though I still dislike FSX compared to FS9 (I just can't get the scenery to be stable when I pan, even though my PC is high-end and gets very good frame rates in FSX: clouds and buildings tend to redraw at slightly different rates, creating a 'tearing' or 'rippling' effect as I pan, something I have been unable to fix ever since I installed FSX soon after it came out (and on more than one PC). But that is definitely outside the scope of this thread/forum!

Guys, Having purchased the ESI Isles of Scilly from Flight store, I'm having the same issues trying to unlock the installer, and wondered if anyone can help? I have uninstalled ESInstaller from Programs and Features. Have also received another serial key from Flight store, which didn't make any difference! So I managed to unzip the various.esi folders and move them go my hard disk and apply in the scenery.cfg iznthe order suggested by Christopher above post.

However, when in enable all scenery.cfg entries in FSX, then when FSX begins loading the scenery it freezes af 6% and just sits there forever, necessitating ending FSX via Task Manager. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it because this scenery is so gas hungry that it can't cope with other scenery being active too? Is there any areas I should look into that might resolve this?

I'm holding someone might have experienced similar problems and overcome them. Regards, Stuart Logged davidlb46. Hi Stuart, The default FSX has a very poor rendition of the IoS.

So much so that just looking at it without first knowing you were a few miles off the mainland. You'd not know where it was. The ES scenery sits straight on top of it so unless you've added a-n-other IoS scenery. There's nothing to delete or uninstall. You should always a) uninstall a currently installed ESI Installer (which you've done) and b) use the one that comes with it on the DVD. Make sure you're not online during the install otherwise it will try to go to EarthSims and check for the latest version and here.

The install will hang. If after all this it's not unlocking. It HAS to be a serial number problem.

I'd not put money on it but I'm reasonably certain that's what the problem is. I'd get back to Flightstore and ask for another serial number if I were you.
